Talking kde update to fix panel problem

Weellll, i was told by the KDE wizards that since my panel is not coming up and being altogether obstinate, i need to upgrade to a newer KDE. Um, i'm not quite sure how, even with dselect at my command...
Anybody want an easy one to tackle?

lol...
i would recomend going for the binary install.. it took me all day to compile the thing , and the speed increace is not really worth it.

be sure to not be running KDE when you upgrade.. linux cant remove / replace / upgrade a file while it is in use... i did this before.. the system was very unstable.

as root "telinit 3" will drop you into command line mode.
