Kde theme problem.

I'm having trouble installing a theme for KDE.

I should note I'm still new at this.

I read the instructions at kde-look to install a theme, but it didnt work.

I ran the install.sh file from a terminal. It said the Acqua theme was installed.

When I go to theme manager in kde, it shows up, but when I click on it, it says there is no theme files in it.

And for some reason now, i cant run the install.sh file again.

Please help. I find this very very frustrating.

oh i should also say, im running kde 3.1

I installed this theme yesterday and i am just as new as you, so hopefully this can be my first helpful piece of advice!

If you have run the install script correctly it should have installed ok but, and i made this mistake as well, it hasn't actually installed a "theme", maybe it's supposed to but it didn't work on mine, i had the same problem.

if you look in the Acqua-3.1 directory that you got when you unzipped the tar file you'll see a readme file. read it and it will actually tell you all the steps taken to apply the theme, all of which are done in KDE look'n'feel but none of which are in the "theme" applet and if you just crossed over from windows, that kind of thing can be confusing!

that should help. i think.

did you install it as root?

the aqua themes install on a individual user basis. if you want root to have that theme, you install it as root. if you want userA to have that them, you install it as userA, etc. plus it's not in theme manager but style. basically, Kcontrol center > Appearance > Style. you should see the acqua listing. ;)
