KDE: simple question
Hi everyone!
I'm using kubuntu dapper and therefore KDE.Everytime a session starts it restores the previous one. How can i disable this function? thanks in advance, chris |
If you go to KDE's control centre and expand "KDE Components", click "Session Manager" and you'll find the option there.

how can I disable this function from the console?
everytime i startx kde restores the previous programs including kvdr which apparently blacks out my whole screen... sorry if i haven't been precise about this before. |
To be honest, I'm not sure. After doing startx, you should be able to switch to another terminal with Ctrl+Alt+Fn (where n = 1, 2, ... 6). Log in and then run "ps aux | grep kvdr" (assuming "kvdr" is what the executable is). Take note of the number in the second column, that's the process ID. You can then kill said process with "kill x", where x is the process ID. That'll hopefully get rid of kvdr.

No prob, you'll still want to do the stuff in Contol Centre, though, obviously!
