kde menu/taskbar problem

as I was opening some files (zips I believe), I somehow managed to restart the X server .. when I logged in again, I 'lost' part of the taskbar.

now, whenever I open a window/program, it doesn't show up in the taskbar anymore.

I checked the helpfiles for the taskbar, but I couldn't find anything that was helpful.

any ideas?

*feeling kinda lost now ... alt+tab isn't ideal to switch windows*

Have you tried deleting the taskbar and adding it back?

what exaclty are you missing. they might just be applets that you can add back, and that weren't saved because the session crashed abruptly.

yes, that's the task manager applet. i think you can just right click the panel and add it back.

some applets won't add!

From my KDE panel at my laptop suddenly the Task Manager Applet and the Laptop power monitor disapear. I tried to add them but they don't show up. Is there a way to fix this?

oh, so you think that this problem is related to the mouse built into your laptop in some way?

Never mind, I am login as a different user (I have spare user accounts for this situation) but there is something strange with KDE panel. For example today I am not getting the aplications applets in the taskbar. This means the applications I have opened do not show up at the taskbar in the panel.
