kde lost my numpad in 'on' mode
I restarted my computer yesterday, now KDE (and any applications running in KDE) does not accept anything typed on the number pad if it is in 'on' mode. I can still turn numlock off and use the numpad as arrow/navigation keys.
At first the problem also affected the logon screen, but after another restart the number pad keys work in the logon screen, and they work okay if I start a WindowMaker session. (I don't actually know whether that logon screen is a creature of KDE, Suse or X -- I suspect it is called the KDE splash or KDE welcome screen.) BTW, this part below from my XFree86 config has been the same from day 1, working fine. _____________________ Section "InputDevice" Driver "Keyboard" Identifier "Keyboard[0]" Option "Protocol" "Standard" Option "XkbLayout" "us" Option "XkbModel" "pc104" Option "XkbRules" "xfree86" EndSection _____________________ Only change to my system recently was the addition of gkrellm to my desktops. Because when you use Linux you have to put totally cool-looking monitors on your desktop. (And point out to your Windows using friends the part where it indicates 90 days uptime.) |
With the computer on, unplug the keyboard. Turn the computer off. Plug the keyboard back in. Turn the computer on.

Thanks for the tip,
unfortunately it didn't work. But in typing this reply I found the problem -- eek! -- I am a stupid! I had the Gnopernicus screen reader running -- and "restore previous session" enabled -- just noticed (with the volume turned up) that Gnopernicus is using the num pad. So it worked out okay, perhaps because now that I know the name of AwesomeMachine I am taking on his nature and have the power to identify KDE problems. (Yes, your signature has got to me.) |
