KDE init error, won't load

Hello everyone,

After my ordeal with Mandriva Linux, I recently managed to get Slackware installed. However, when I use "startx" KDE will not load, and suggests I reinstall. How do I do this? Or how do I use an alternative to KDE? Basically, what should I do to have more than a command prompt? Thanks

What specific error message do you get with startx? To change to a different window manager use
Code:
xwmconfig
then startx
