KDE/Gnome Desktop blank on left side
I have RH 7.2 and everything works fine. However, in both KDE and Gnome there is a blank space along the left side of the window that is black (it's about 1/2" wide along the left edge). I don't know if this is normal. Any thoughts?

How about any other window managers?
This sounds to me like a messed up XF86Config file, but try other wm first and see what happens. Then if the same thing, post your XF86Config file and tell us a bit about your hardware, specifically Video Card and such.
Cool

monitor settings
Sounds like you just need to adjust your monitor settings. Try fiddling with the buttons on your monitor.

Thanks guys. I adjusted my monitor settings and that took care of it. Funny that before I adjusted them when I booted up WinXP the desktop there was OK there but not in RH 7.2. When I adjusted my monitor settings in RH 7.2 to eliminate the blank space, it did not affect my WinXP desktop so I am good all around. Seems odd to me but what the heck, it worked!

different resolutions
yeah, some monitors actually remember different settings for different resolutions (a lot of the newer ones do this). you probably run windows XP at a different resolution than Linux... no big deal.
