KDE Dolphin - is it possible to make it less ugly?
I've Googled various terms to see if there's any tips out there for making Dolphin pretty but i've so far not come up with anything.
KDE Plasma 5 looks nice. Modern, clean, and different enough without being SO different to warrant closer investigation. But every time i try out KDE i'm instantly struck by just how offensive Dolphin is. It honestly feels like it's from the 90s and doesn't appear to have changed much (visually) for many years (though i'm a noob so probably wrong). I hear KDE is quite customisable, is Dolphin? I think the lack of visual difference in the folder icons is a factor, and that the folder icons are so dreadfully bland. Blue also sucks as the colour. There's probably a "customise Dolphin" guide out there that i haven't found. Feel free to point it out to me. Thanks. :) EDIT: I found this, but this would be a rather tedious exercise: https://userbase.kde.org/Dolphin/Cus...Folder_Icon/en. It would be fun applying that to 80 folders containing images to more visually identify them as such. |
Hi, most of the desktop setting may be modified and customised from...
configure your desktop, the icon is a crossed (X) spanner and screwdriver. configure your desktop - application appearance and configure your desktop - workspace appearance You maybe able to download other themes and icons, some are smart and show what is in the folder, like pics, vids, html and text. iirc, the options are in dolphin - control - general - previews you could use any other filemanager you wish. I hope this helps regards Glenn |
