KDE can not start, Need Help!

See error logs below:

xsetroot: unable to open display ''
xset: unable to open display
ksplash: can't connect to X Server
kdeinit: Aborting: SDISPLAY is not set
Warning: connect() failed: no such file or directory
Ksmserver: can't connect to X Server
Startkde: shutting down
Warning: connect() failed: no such file or directory
Error: can't contact kdeinit!

Any thoughts to correct this problem? What are the things we need to look closer to resolve the issue.

Thanks.
John

Do you have another display running? make sure the xserver is shutdown before you start kde.

Sorry I am a newbie to Linux, I am running suse pro 9.0. How to check If I am running Xserver? How to check this thing.

xserver [options] start|stop

You may have to restart the xserver to start kde(not sure as I've never had to stop it)
