KDE 3.1 can't remove file in Konqueror

I have a bunch of copies of files that were made in XP and I put them on a CD and tranferred them to Mandrake 9.2. I am using Konqueror and I am trying to delete those extra copies of files, but I always get a access denied message.

eg. I am trying to remove the file Copy (17) of Copy of 238hk.jpg and I can't do it even on the command line.

In Konqueror I thought it would be simple to just click on a file and click delete and it would be gone to the dumpster, but it's not happening. What am I doing wrong?

I'd think you'd need to clear the read-only bit. 'chmod 644 file(s)'. Via command line, make sure you escape spaces and funky characters (GUI won't matter). There's a way to clear that by default but it escapes me now - try the 'cp' man page or somewhere.

It worked! I did a chmod on the wallpaper directory and then I was able to just delete them as I wanted.
Thank you very much.
