I just downloaded RH7.3 with KDE3 and installed it with out any trobules. The trobule is when I'm in KDE in root user mode I cant aaccesses any of my cdroms. How do i change it so i can, and i would also like to know how to put the nice cd icons on the desk top.

you may not have cdrom mount point defined in /etc/fstab. there are lots of threads describing how to configure it. do search

in kde you can change the default icon of anything by right clicking on the icon then selecting properties and there you can change the icon

If you don't already have the ICONS on your desktop, you can make a link there by right clicking on the background, and choosing 'new' then link to CDROM.

You shouldn't log in as root, its dangerous. Any application that has a bug or a security exploit could trash your hard disk. Just log in as a normal user and use the "su" command when you need to perform a task that absolutly has to be done as root.
