Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hi! I recently have made a clean install of 9.10 on my laptop, which previously was running 9.04 without much issues. Everything was looking nice and dandy until I launched firefox and tried to download some files from the web. So what happened is that my system completely freezed, requiring hard restart. It happens all the time at random point of file downloading. It is possible for example to download some web-pages or smaller images some times, however, when going to larger file it freezes. Same happens when I am downloading restricted drivers from ubuntu HW manager, or using my local FTP server with Nautilus FTP client.
I've reinstalled karmic without home encryption using ext3, however that didn't helped much. In syslog I often see following lines as the last ones before freezing (not sure if this is related):
Nov 5 06:05:40 hostos rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="4.2.0" x-pid="674" x-info="httр : / / www , rsyslog , com"] (re)start
Nov 5 06:05:40 hostos rsyslogd: rsyslogd's groupid changed to 102
Nov 5 06:05:40 hostos rsyslogd: rsyslogd's userid changed to 10
Almost forgot, I am using Atheros AR928X Wireless Network Adapter as my network interface. Also, when running live cd for a small time, I wasn't able to reproduce the freeze.
