Kanotix vga mode issue

Hello I'm new here and new to Linux in general. Just to give you my back ground, I'm a PC Technician at a small computer company in Michigan. I have several years of college in computers and some Certs. I got interested in the Linux Live boot CDs and thought I would try Kanotix. Well I installed Kanotix a PC one day at work. No problems there. Now I'm at home with it hooked to my KVM Switch and every time I try to boot I get Cannot Display this Video Mode.

Gateway GP
700MHz
256MB RAM
Onboard Video

Monitor is a Dell E 172FP

Kanotix 2005-03
Kernel 2.6.11

Now understand this is the first time I have installed any Linux on any computer. Just want to know how to fix this issue.
