Kanotix ethonet connection

The Kanotix live cd connects to the internet [DSL] with no problem, but when I installed it to the hard drive, it does not.

It finds the ethonet connection but gives me the message that another running pppoe process might be controlling the modem [not true].

I have googled and done searches, but I haven't been able to find anything that applies. I checked out some info on the Debian website which was way over my head.

I'm running a MSI K7N2 Delta2 motherboard with embedded etho and so far Ubuntu and the Kanotix live cd are the only distros to find the connection and make it work.

It seems weird to me that the live cd hooks up with no problem, but not the installed version.

I would appreciate some suggestions.

Thanks, zoey:study:  :study:

I found this googling, maybe it will help.

4. I have no internet now after I have installed kanotix, how do I fix this? You need to open up a konsole and type su and hit "Enter" , and then enter your administrative password or root password, and then hit "Enter". Then you need to enter "netcardconfig", and hit "Enter". Congratulations your internet should be setup.
This was taken from here.

Thanks peace dog, that sounds easy enough, but it doesn't work. I get 'connection to 0.0 denied. I will check around using the link you provided to see if I can find out something else to try that I haven't tried already.

I probably should have stated that it is Kanotix 2005-01, not 2004. There seems to be less info out about 2005, I suppose because it is so new.

I Got It!

I went into netcard configure under Kanotix and clicked on OK and I now have an internet hookup that held after a restart, so I think that I got it!

Thanks, zoey:study: :) :study:
