Kali Linux Install (i915 component)

Hi

I own an ASUS ROG GL552VW with Win 10 pre-installed. So I want to dual boot Kali Linux on my laptop and I've tried many times but failed.

Whenever I try to boot from 'UEFI:SlimTypeCDDrive' with Kali Linux Bootable Disk in place, nothing happens but a black screen.

So, I tried to boot 'P1:SlimTypeCDDrive' which gave me hopes for a few minutes. I got installation screen, this is the image - http://linuxpitstop.com/wp-content/u...015/08/110.png

So, I went to Graphical Install, then after some codes, it said "snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1f.3: failed to add i915 component master (-19)"

I tried searching for a fix on the internet but what I saw was way above my understanding.

Please help me with the most basic steps to fix this.

Thank You

I'm sorry but I didn't get any word in what these links say.
I am a newbie to linux and don't know anything.
Please help...

Kali means read through each of those links and each link there after!

As a :newbie: you should start with top distros and work from there.

As a computer scientist or for pen testing your own closed networks you still wouldn't "install" Kail. ;)

Sorry but I didn't get that.

I'm installing Kali because my college demands me to install it as they are going to get students acquainted with Kali and its tools. All my mates got it installed it easily. The problem lies with installing in my laptop.

Some of those links go to Kali's website where you should RTM. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTM#Technology_and_Internet :hattip:

I have been told to install it. Obviously I have read the manual which was of no use. I could really use some help in installing it.

I also checked out Kali Forums, saw the same problem with no answer.

Please help, I'd really appreciate it!!!

Do you have a copy\backup of window$?!

If graphical install does not work for you, isn't it obvious to use alternative install? Once you have it installed you can fix your graphics driver and have a GUI.

I find it hard to believe a school is making you install it in an unrecommended way and without going over safety precaution info on the micro-coughed "repair" partition &c... just run it in Virtualbox or live.

Jamison, we have more messed up colleges here...
Nothing for you to worry about.

Emerson, I've tried the alternate install but it gives me a black screen

Emerson 07-12-2016 03:53 PM

Black screen. So try disabling KMS. What Intel graphics you got?

Vishesh Chamoli 07-12-2016 04:06 PM

I have Intel HD graphics 530 with Dedicated NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 960M
