k3b: unable to open '/tmp/kde-myuser/k3b_image.iso' for writing

Hi!

since I have upgraded to FC5 I only trouble with k3b!
Now I can't burn any DVD, neither as root nor as normal user.
As normal user I get the error message:
Quote:
unable to open '/tmp/kde-myuser/k3b_image.iso' for writing
what does that mean?
when I try this as root, k3b says that it can't eject the media (does the with all my dvd-players!)

Thanks for any help.

Got that the other day when trying to copy a dvd and did not have the required 4+GB of space free on the partition that /tmp was on, so you need to make enough space free for the image or if you have unselected the On the fly option for the image creation this will happen for this you just need to select it again then you don't need all the space free.

Thanks for your answer Stephen. I actually have 34 GB free space on the partition where my /tmp is on. Copying doensn't seem to be the problem. I get the error, at the end of copying when I tries to ejct the DVD. The "On the fly" option is diseabled on my K3b, so I couldn't try this either.

Hmm not really sure what is going on here then. Do you see anything strange in the debugging output option? At least I think that is what it is called when the screen comes up at the end when it stops you should have a button you can press which will show you the commands used and their result.

Thanks for your support Stephen!
first of all, I only have problem whn making a copy of a DVD. I just tried to make a DVD-project (datas), and there asn't any problem.
The error message is
Quote:
enable to eject media
. It's not the real reason though. The debugging output says:
Quote:
System
-----------------------
K3b Version: 0.12.15

KDE Version: 3.5.1-2.3 Red Hat
QT Version: 3.3.5
Kernel: 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5
Devices
-----------------------
PLEXTOR DVDR PX-740A 1.01 (/dev/hdd, ) at [CD-R; CD-RW; CD-ROM; DVD-ROM; DVD-R; DVD-RW; DVD-R DL; DVD+R; DVD+RW; DVD+R DL] [DVD-ROM; DVD-R Sequential; DVD-R Dual Layer Sequential; DVD-R Dual Layer Jump; DVD-RW Restricted Overwrite; DVD-RW Sequential; DVD+RW; DVD+R; DVD+R Double Layer; CD-ROM; CD-R; CD-RW] [SAO; TAO; RAW; SAO/R96R; RAW/R16; RAW/R96R; Restricted Overwrite; Layer Jump]

JLMS XJ-HD166S DS19 (/dev/hdc, ) at [CD-ROM; DVD-ROM] [DVD-ROM; CD-ROM] [None]
Any clue?
I may actually be wrong when saying that it used to work. I may only have used DVD-burning to make iso-image and not DVD-copy.
P.S. I had a look hier http://nouvelle-ecosse.com/fr/home/default.aspx. You seem to live in a great place!
