K3b not wroking
 

Hi..Im a new linux user..Im using Fedora8...it hs nt ne built-in software for cd-dvd writing...so i hav downloaded k3b...
but everytime i run dis command
$k3b
in the console it only says...
DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Could not open network socket

kbuildsycoca running...

nd my pc jus hangs...
everytim i hav to restart manually...
please help...

Please do not use the abbreviated language (SMS or whatever it is called)---it makes it much more difficult to read and understand what you are saying.

Try running k3b as root (In a terminal, first enter "su" to become root, and then "k3b")

Assuming this works, then try adding yourself to the cdrom group. On some systems, there will be also/instead something like the "optical" group. You can see all groups (and their members) by doing "more /etc/group".

How did you install k3b?

If you did not install k3b using the package manager, then you may have a dependency issue.

Now that I think about, F8 really **should** have SW for CD recording. You might want to have another look.

I have installed through terminal:
#yum install k3b
