Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

i'm using Gnome 2.6 on FC2 and i've been burning all my cds with k3b. Everything was working fine until yesterday. I tried to open k3b as usual and when the GUI opened, the HDD led on my case started to light without stoppping and everything started going reeeealy slow... I couldn't even shutdown or restart the pc. I had to shut it off after 15 mins (nothing changed). I opened it a couple of times again and same thing happened all the time.
I made no updates on the machine these days, except installing the libsig which was needed for inkscape...
Could anyone help me with this? I don't know where i could look for info. I checked the system logs but that didn't help me much.
Thanx in advance.
thanx for replying so quickly,
i thought about it but i checked my partitions and /home seems to be the most heavy loaded, but still, it has 1.1Gb free...
I gues that's a good amount of free space, so this shouldn't be the problem...
Is there any kind of log for k3b? I guess this would explain some things...
Hmmm. maybe you need to go through your ~/.kde/share/config and ~/.kde/share/apps directories and remove the k3brc files (or rename them to back them up) and any other k3b stuff and trying running it again and reconfiguring it. Maybe some config got screwed up or it has something queued or something...
