Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I installed the latest version of K3B and everything looked like it went correctly. However i don't know how to start the program. I tried typing "k3b" in the "run application" window, but now luck. I also tried the "locate k3b" command and it found some stuff but i don't know what i need to run.
Ok cool, i found it in /usr/local/kde/bin, however when i open it, it gives me a message saying "cdrdao does not run with root privileges, It is highly recommended to configure cdrdao to run with root privileges to increase the overall stability of the burning process.
Solution: Use K3bSetup to solve this problem". I tried to run this K3bsetup thing but you can either open it with gedit, run it in the terminal (which just pops the terminal up real quick and closes it out) or cancel. How can i get this to run with root privileges?
Hit OK to clear the error. Then in K3B, click settings...K3B setup. Type in your root password and hit enter. It opens up a window...just click Apply then OK. Close K3B and reopen it and you shouldn't get any errors.
Thanks for the help guys. I got it working, though I took a slightly different route. I reinstalled the app while logged in as me (i think i was in as root before). that seem to do the trick. I'm getting this linux stuff slowly but surely!
