I just reinstalled Mandrake 9.2 and I now I have no sound. Had it before. I have a SoundBlaster 512 card and Nivida (sp) on motherboard. I think I have disabled the Nivida so that the SoundBlaster will work, but I get nothing. Any suggestions? (Be Nice!)
Try lsmod and look for the alsa sound modules, they start with snd-. If you have them then from a terminal run alsamixer and set the levels the way you like.
You may also need to set almixer and kmixer. Sometimes one of these mixers will have something muted and you need to hit just the right button to get things to work.
