I need to reinstall linux. I am worried that when I delete my linux partition my system won't boot. I am using lilo at the moment. It is written to /dev/hda. The partition table looks like this

hda1 windoze98
hda2 linux swap
hda3 linux native
hda3 separate partition for /usr

when i delete linux native and the /usr partition(hda2 +3) will my pc still boot window$98. with lilo?

Where did you install LILO to?

If you installed it to the MBR your PC should boot up just fine.

I don't know what happens if you remove bootable partitions which have the bootloader stored on them

While you can still boot win98, make a boot disk (for safe keeping). That way if you find that after removing linux you can't boot, pop the boot disk in, run fdisk /mbr and reboot.

is that a windows or a linux boot disk?
