Juses fxxking christ I need some help
 

Ok here's my fxxking problem: I was transferring files across to my portable hdd when the usb connector came out, some how this gave me this
messege. Is there any way to fix this any help would be great.

How about remounting the drive and retry the copy operation?

I can't copy files because the portable hdd has a ntfs file which only allows read write. I get an
error saying i/o error when transferring files.

Plug it into a Windows machine and tell it to repair the filesystem.

Don't have access to Windows at the moment is there anything I can do

How about not using NTFS?
What's the reason for that?

It worked, I didn't know about read write permissions causes problems

I'd format it to ext4 if it's not going to be used on a Windows system.

I agree habitual but first things first get my data off my portable hdd then format ext4.

The linux error says run windows chkdsk and then reboot in windows twice. From there you can pull your data off in Windows.

In my case. My bike tuner Windows 10 laptop comes in to save the day. If no access to a Windows computer.

If you don't need to share data with a Windows system, don't use NTFS.
If your data is important to you, make a backup.

As for recovery, use a Windows system, after all NTFS is a Windows filesystem. If you don't have access to a Windows system, all I can say is good luck.

I believe that is what is meant by "backup, backup, backup".

My backups have backups and that has a backup.
