jscal doesnt work in Maverick Meerkat

Hi everybody .
I just upgraded to 10.10 version (32 bit) and istalled gmameui along with mame. Although when i try to run gmameui preferences the program crashes, it recognizes the roms and am able to play so it doesnt really bother me.
The problem is that joystick works but not properly despite jscal calibration .My joystick is recognized as js0. I reinstalled "joystick" package but the problem persists.
Any idea what to do next?
Thanks in advance
