jpilot Clie Fedora USB problem ???
Greetings!
Linda the Newbie finally admits defeat and asks for help . . . . . I chose the Newbie forum because I suspect there is some easy answer to this. I am trying to make my Sony Clie running Palm OS to sync with jpilot on Fedora Core. I installed jpilot using up2date, and one of the things I read was that I needed to make some symlinks in /dev, so I did: [root@localhost dev]# ls -lt|head -5 total 232 crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 5, 2 Apr 9 10:23 ptmx lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Apr 9 09:41 cdwriter -> /dev/sg0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 Apr 9 09:23 palm -> /dev/ttyUSB1 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 Apr 9 09:23 pilot -> /dev/ttyUSB1 (I don't know where the cdwriter one came from; I didn't do anything intentional to create or edit that this morning.) I can start jpilot on the command line. A howto for a different handheld said to click the sync button on the handheld and then the sync button on jpilot, and when I do that, I get the following in my xterm window: pi_bind: No such device pi_bind Illegal seek Check your serial port and settings Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_BIND Finished and I can't find any info anywhere on pi_bind. I tried both USB ports and I'm not using a USB hub. I was wondering if I have USB set up to work right. I have never used any USB device under Linux. The only other device I have is one of those little key fob sized USB drive devices, which I thought I could use to "prove" that my USB ports are working but I don't know how. Any assistance very much appreciated! Linda :) :) :) |
