Exclamation Jolicloud: how do I stop Jolicloud from overheating my laptop?

I installed Jolicloud 1.2 on my laptop at the beginning of the year, as a secondary boot besides windows, but many of the apps have a tendency to overheat my laptop. It is proving very frustrating having my laptop automatically switch itself off midway through online work or a videogame. Is there an upgrade option? Or a modification to the software that I could carry out myself? (I have very limited programming skills).

It is unlikely that software is the problem. It's almost certainly physical.

Try holding your hands over the vents to check for airflow and check that the fans are working. Try vacuuming them out to remove any dust. Computers are dust magnets.

Also, make sure to use it on a hard surface that doesn't block any ventilation vents.
