joke in Terminal
just installed Linux Mint how do i get rid of the joke in Terminal
|
I am not familiar with mint.
Is that "joke" a thing that appears every time you press ENTER or is it a message that appears only once when you open the terminal? In the former case then it's probably part of your prompt ($PS1), they way to change that depends on the shell you use. In the later case you could look into /etc/issue or your shell initialization files (starting probably in /etc/profile), but I can't be sure. |
Welcome to LinuxQuestions.
I assume what you are seeing is generated by the program fortune. Fortune is an old Unix console application that outputs random messages. It is typically configured to run when you login or open a console window. http://techpad.co.uk/content.php?sid=80 |
I do remember some distro's doing that but I just installed mint 11 and it isn't there.
Anyway see this. http://forum.linuxmint.com/viewtopic...st=0&sk=t&sd=a |
Slackware does that on login. It's one of the touches that I like.
