Jockey backend
 
Hi,
I am trying to update a cache but when i do so it doesn’t download but comes up with the message 'waiting for jockey backend to exit'.I have tried to download for 4 hours now and nothing is happening... can someone help?

Hello,

You didn't state what distro you are using, and if you are trying to use jockey itself, or if it is just a random message appearing in your terminal whenever you try to update your cache. Could you fill us in? Thanks!

Jockey, to my knowledge, is for installing restricted and proprietary drivers. If anything, I would just wait until it finished out. If it is taking way too long, let us know, and most likely you can safely turn off the service, and/or kill the process.

hi,
im not to sure what a distro is.... sorry i am very new and still learning the ropes! an example of my problem is that i am trying to download skype onto my Ubuntu through ubuntu software centre but it doesnt actually download, it says its in progress but then says 'waiting for jockey backend to exit' or doesnt do anything at all just says '0 B of 10 B'and after a few hours disappears all together! Any ideas?

Distro stands for distribution; Your distro would be ubuntu. How long did you wait until you tried again? It should have finished out whatever what it was doing.
