jhow much different is opensuse compaired to Ubuntu Hardy?

I am currently using Ubuntu hardy I am using this because I was having issues with ATI video drivers for my ati 3879hd video card, I am currious about opensuse I have tryed the opensuse live cd but like any live cd you can only go so far with it. so I am wondeering how much of a difference is there between the two distros and has anyone had or is still having issues with the ATI driver installs?
edit oops just noticed I misspelled how in the title lol

The differences between distros largely exists in some of the fine details like package management, software repositories and such. When it comes to the basics like drivers, there isn't a lot of difference simply because all distros are drawing from the same resources for the basics. There are times when certain distros have tweaked a driver or a program and that isn't in general use across distros (Debian's Iceweasel version of Firefox is probably the most famous example) but you usually have to do a bit of digging to find out if your particular driver has been tweaked by opensuse.
