Question Java virtual machine too slow in konqueror

I'm running mandrake 9.1, KDE. I use konqueror and downloaded jdk 1.4 from java.sun.com and installed it.
All the applets run considereably slower than when run on the windows xp OS that i have on the same machine.
Can someone suggest a good fast JVM and plz (cuz i'm a newbie) include instrcutions on how to install it. (I hope not too difficult)!
Thanks,

I actually have the same problem. I used Blackdowns java and it runs much slower than in Windows. I followed the Blackdown instructions and everything seems to work, just slow.

I just never really cared that much, because i only use java to play games every once in a while.
