Go to http://www.yolinux.com ... they seem to have a snippet on it.

once you have installed the java thing

type the following in at a console

locate libjavaplugin_oji.so

if it comes back with no result then type
updatedb

then do locate

then as root type

ln -s /path/to/libjavaplugin /path/to/mozilla/plugins/folder

I've got the same problem. so following the instructions above, locate finds

/xxx/xxx/j2sdk1.4.1_02/jre/plugini386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so
/xxx/xxx/j2sdk1.4.1_02/jre/plugini386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so

mozilla version is 1.3

the locate is finding stuff for netscape plugins, I guess. which one should I use?
