Java runtime enviroment plugin won't work with firefox in xubuntu

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I'm trying to get java working on xubuntu, mostly just so that I can play Go on Kiseido Go server. I downloaded jre-6u3-linux-i586.bin, and installed it according to the instructions at the java home page.

Nothing seemed to go wrong with the installation, so I went to the configuration section a bit further down the page. I followed those instructions to link the plugin to firefox, with directory changes as needed for different locations. Basically this:
Code:
akashe@jenny:/usr/lib/firefox/plugins$ ls -s /home/akashe/Desktop/jre1.6.0_03/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so

140 /home/akashe/Desktop/jre1.6.0_03/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
The 140 line was green, which made me think "Success", and there were no error messages.

The problem is, I can't find the "enable java" button. I typed in
Code:
about:plugins
, and java doesn't show up. Does anyone have any idea why, and/or how I can fix it?

I tried to use jre-6.0 with both Fedora 8 and ubuntu. It didn't worked in any.
Instead I set up jre-1.5 and it works fine ( don't care about the strange numbers, java version numbers are confuse and 1.5 is the newer but 6 ).

If still not works, try to run firefox from a terminal and copy the output here [=
