java plugin closes my mozilla

i just got the java plugin going for mozilla 1.5 and whenever i go to a webpage that has something java on it.. it closes mozilla on me..

cp /usr/java/j2*/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/li* /usr/local/mozilla/plugins/

that's the command i did to add java plugin support.. i know there's another way to make a link to the file rather then actually cp the file to the folder.. would that cure my problem?

run mozilla and you will more than likely get a useful error message. you maybe require a different version, for ns7 (i think it is a standard plugin now)

don't do this:
cp /usr/java/j2*/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/li* /usr/local/mozilla/plugins/

instead, do
ln -s /usr/java/j2*/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/local/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so

(this is one line)

you can get information on plugins and how to install them here:
