java lesson for starters

Hi Java Guru's

I am one of the IT from our work and I've been a assigned by my boss to study java-based programming for creating automation-tools for our site. can someone give me ideas for their experiences on to which site should I look for a good tutorial for fresh learners like me. I've been digging some sites but it tells me that Java requires c++ skills which I don't have. Well I just want to know if there is a site to look for fresh IT people like me.

Really?? Because you posted a 'beginner java' question TWO YEARS AGO:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ld-4175420619/

Have you not progressed ANY in two years? And putting "beginner java tutorials" into Google pulls up lots...the first two hits:
http://www.learnjavaonline.org/
http://www.freejavaguide.com/corejava.htm

Did you try to look this up?

as I am a shame of myself YES, I haven't concentrate on the coding. But that question 2 years was intended only for test run on our new http server, just to be capable to run java-based pages so I tested it 1st on my local. Now they let me in for the development.

I'll take a look on the sites you provided. thanks for sharing this to me :-)
