Hello everyone,
I want to install jdk in ubuntu 8.10. But i am not able to find it's setup file on the net. I wanted to know whether jdk works in linux or not and if it does where can I find it's setup.

Did you check Sun's website http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp? You might also consider using Google and searching "jdk ubuntu install" or something similar to find instructions specific to Ubuntu.

Available from repository.

Connect to the internet. Open a Terminal. Issue the command:
Quote:
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk
