Java fonts in Linux Firefox & Gnome notify gaim
 

Hi everyone,
I've got Fedora Core 3 with Firefox 1.0 and installed the Java extension that provided support for applets. The applets work fine except that when i type in something in a textbox in an applet, only the top half of the text is visible. Like when I type in an 'i', I'll see the dot of the i and half of the stem of 'i' and the rest will be below the bottom of the textbox.
Can anyone help me?

Also, if anyone knows how to make gnome window taskbar flash when a new message comes in gaim, it will be useful. it only makes a sound when a new message is recieved, which is very unwieldly if you have sound disabled. :(
