Java Compiler for Mandrake???

I have a couple java programs that I want to run under Mandrake 9.1, and it seems that I don't have a java compiler. I went and downloaded this java compiler from java.sun.com, and installed the package and everything however when I try to run my programs it still doesn't work. Any tips on what I am doing wrong??

Thanks in advance.

SIncerely,

Mazyar

Well I didn't solve it.....I downloaded the Java 2 Platform Standard Edition.....I saved the Java 2 directory into a folder, but for some reason I still cannot use standard java commands in the command line, like javac or javah. PLEASE can anyone give me advice on what I am doing wrong. Thanks.

Does Java 2 Platform Edition even support the Mandrake distribution??? If not then which distribution would be compatible with Mandrake.

Man I haven't got any responses, I thought this site was supposed to help newbies?

You'll have to add the java /bin directory to your path or actually be in the /bin directory when you're trying to use the java or javac command.
