Jail/chroot type thing?

Hi,

I am looking for a way to stop a user being able to see anything other then the contents of 'there' file.
For example i want to have a file /www and then in this have a lot of other files.
I need a way for a user to be able to see the contents of say /www/site1 but not anything else in /www or anywhere else! In this situatin it will be nessesary for apache to reed any of them though.

I did some resurch and found a lot on chroot and setting users in jail, but it seemed that perhaps this was a little more complex then i need? All the users need to be able to do is read, write and delete the contents of there folder?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

chroot is what you need, but plain old chroot might be daunting to a beginner. I think there are nice packages like jailkit which make the job easier for the administrator. This sort of mechanism is often used for remote ssh access, cvs access, and webserver access to untrusted users.

P.S.
I think you meant “their”
