You know it doesn't work with a Celeron but you're trying to force it to anyway? Why not just disable the processor check in the software?

not really , usually you dont need to do anything "manually" to your hardware ... my habit is that sometime remains "i386" would be better ...

as for those stuffs , its just that i find them interesting ... like "so ... that was what actually happened behind the scene"

change cpuinfo

Im not sure why people are so interested in why you want to change it...why does he want to change it?...because he can!

Here you go.
/proc/cpuinfo

The /proc/cpuinfo file is patched by using a bindmount to overlay a file containing falsified CPU related information:

if [ -e /etc/cpuinfo] ; then
mount—bind /etc/cpuinfo /proc/cpuinfo

Interesting idea - but this is a *6* year dead thread.
In future how about you confine yourself to current topics ?.

If the mods or administrators of this forum want to autolock all zombie threads, they can, although that would be stupid. Last I checked, you were not a moderator, so you do not have the right to tell other users how to post.

As it is, having an actual response was tremendously helpful to me, seeing as this is on the first page of Google and the first page that has any real information. If you want to chastise people, chastise the old members for giving false information, not the guy who corrected them and kept people from being misinformed.
