Welcome to LQ!!

You'll need to define which aspect is slow---eg is it the startup, web browser, word processor, etc.?

While (if optimized) Linux can be faster than Windows, there are specific applications that are slower---eg OpenOffice take longer to start up than does MSOffice. (In my world, this is not an issue.)
