it's my first time using ubuntu-linux.how to install a fax software in it?


i tried installing efax-gtk but nothing happened and the folder has no content.i also tried other linux compatible fax software like hylafax but i couldn't install it.it was only downloaded to my pc.can you help me pls.thanks-brovic

On ubuntu you can search for available packages with
apt-cache search fax (example)
It will give out a list of programs that are connected to the given topic. You can then install programs from that list by
sudo apt-get install efax gfax
You can use them as soon as they got installed, usually.

Did you try to install like that?

That works. Another way is to use the Software Center or the Synaptic Package Manager to search for fax software. I know there's something called efax that might fit the bill (and there's a graphical version of it too - look for the terms "graphical interface" in the description). Mark it for installation (click it to mark it), then click on the Apply button and watch the magic.
