try dig www.google.com
do you get a result? if not then your DNS is not defined in your /etc/resolv.conf

Can you ping your router?

if it does can you ping google? if you cannot ping www.google.com then your default gateway maybe wrong

Non of the address you are trying to reach exist(try them in FF). The structure of the sub directories may have changed.

Apparently there appears to be issue with your /etc/resolv.conf or /etc/hosts settings. This issue is not resulted to yum. OK do one thing, are you able to ping from your server? like

ping yahoo.com

If you are unable to ping then clearly its issues with resolver configuration and name-servers present in resolv.conf are not properly working.

Aun

While he MAY also have issues such as you are listing(no way to tell right now, but unlikely), the addresses he is trying to call up do not exist(check them with FF). Until he uses existing addresses, he will not be able to connect.

Ping worked. What does FF mean?

Wow!

This community is awesome. Thanks for the quick response!
I know I totally seem ignorant, but what does FF mean? Yeah, I was able to ping.

thanks again

Sorry about that. FF is Firefox, but you can use whatever browser you like.

esoukenka

You are in the same situation. Those links are non existent. Check them with your favorite browser. If you cannot reach a location with your browser, yum will not be able to reach it either.

You might try

Quote:
yum clean all
To start with. It MAY be that you are working off a cached mirror list.

Appears that it was an issue with me being impatient. I found a related post on fedora forums(sorry do not have link) lots of people experienced over weekend and it was not an issue that anyone wanted to fix on a weekend.

Thank you everyone for the assistance though.
