Issue with Ubuntu 10.04?
I have noticed whenever someone install Ubuntu 10.04 the grub menu doesnt get display. Is this a bug? Recently I did installed Ubuntu 10.04 with Windows as dual boot config and I did notice nothing like menu.1st instead it had grub.cfg.
Pls Confirm if thats the bug. if not, how to fix it? |
Depends on whether you consider using grub2 a bug.

Ubuntu 10.04 installs with GRUB2. See here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Grub2"GRUB 2 is a complete rewriting of the Grub interface. Based on the research project PUPA, GRUB 2 is more modular and portable than its predecessor. Some of the GRUB 2 scheduled improvements include: * a graphical interface, including theming; * modular loading; * cross-platform compatibility; * scripting support; * user-customized boot entries;"https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2" * revised partition naming." This page gives more details: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2Specifically: # On a new install of Ubuntu 9.10 or 10.04 with no other installed operating system, GRUB 2 will boot directly to the login prompt or Desktop. No menu will be displayed. # Hold down SHIFT to display the menu during boot (formerly ESC in GRUB legacy). # No /boot/grub/menu.lst. It has been replaced by /boot/grub/grub.cfg. |
