Unhappy Issue with network on centos 7

Hello,

I just installed CentOS 7 (Server with GUI) and guess what I could install Virtual Box Guest additions without installing any extra package/software which is great news !
Now bad news or not so great news.

My Host OS is Windows 10, Virtual Box is the virtualization software. CentOS7-1 is the name of Virtual machine I have created and agent1 is its hostname.

The issue is ,I am unable to connect to outside world, When I on CentOS7 VM I get error message like Connection Failed something on these lines.
Here is the output from /var/log/messages i.e from server itself.

Code:
[root@agent1 ~]# cat /var/log/messages |grep -i network

To add few cents I just did google and Google Lord says run command dhclient which fixed my issue. This however doesn't give me any clue why it started working and not before.

All I want a static IP so I guess I just want eth0, I am not sure what is enp0s3, lo,virbr0,virbr0 is.

Please see output from server again:

Honestly I have no idea what is happening with my network...

I want a static IP + able to access internet on command line + access internet on browser.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

enp0s3 is your wired NIC, see unpredictable network interface names.

It looks like you have /etc/network/interfaces configured for the ethernet connection AND network-manager is trying to get in there too. In virtualbox, you can either piggyback a network connection with a NAT configuration, or give the virtual machine it's own IP with a bridged setup. But the host must have an IP available.

Network-manager calls interfaces configured in the "interfaces" file, "managed". So, the interface is unmanaged by network-manager, reason being: it is managed by ifupdown (interfaces file). So, I'd take the static assignment out of interfaces and configure it in network-manager. Otherwise, if you use network-manager at all, none of the interfaces assignments will work unless you manually bring them up with ifup.

Actually , I yet don't know the problem. But I have found out a work around or may be the solution.

If I sudo to root(sudo su - root) and type in dhclient, I get the stuff working. Access to internet via command line as well as browser.

I ran nmtui (Network Manager text user interface) and fixed the enp0s3 name as eth0 as well as device name + fixed IP in same GUI and I can see in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-enp0s3 file but still ip addr shows old IP. Plus I am not sure why I see ifcfg-enp0s3 file. I thought It gets replaced by ifcfg-eth0 file.

Moreover unless I do dhclient as root I don't get access to internet.

Looks like something caused by Network Manager. I tried to disable NetworkManager so that network can work but that's even more worst as enp0s3 is not up in that instance.

All in all in complete state of confusion................
There is no file like /etc/network/interfaces, I am using CentOS7 and I believe its a big jump from CentOS 6.X

OK, sorry. Try
Code:
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/
instead of /etc/network/interfaces. DHCLIENT is probably just reconfiguring the network interface. You could use ifconfig also.
