Iso8859-1

I am having trouble with a couple of programs in X, it seems that they can't find the fonts that they are looking for. For example, when i run xmms, i get this:

Gdk-WARNING **: Missing charsets in FontSet creation

Gdk-WARNING **: ISO8859-1

** CRITICAL **: Couldn't open playlist font

I looked at the font tutorial @ linux.org, and it's not there anymore. can anybody help me out, or even point me to a good tutorial on dealing with fonts?

you could cheat and rename a different fontset to this. xmms wouldn't know.

The problem isn't just with xmms though, i would like to fix it for the whole system. Thanks for the help though, maybe i'll do that for now.

if i remember correctly iso8859-1 is the bog standard asci english character set. In other words it is the normal characters you see everywhere.

I;m quite impressed that this is screwing up since this would be used everywhere in X (unless you use another language set). Does this error happen anywhere else in X or not?

try looking on the XFree86 website or download the latest version. It should let you choose which font set to install and you will want this one. You may be able to get it seperately but don#t hold me to that one.

Alex

P.S. sorry I couldn't be anymore help
