is using "disks" worth a shot at formatting an eReader?
I bought a PRS 300 ereader. On the third sideload it got stuck on "loading." I soft re-set it, hard re-set it. Talked to Sony. The end result was the Sony guy said I could format it with FAT. So I Googled, found "disks" and installed it. It looks pretty easy. Especialy with these instructions:
http://www.dailylinuxnews.com/blog/2...ives-in-linux/ The ereader is under warranty for 30 days so I could return it, but I'd have to pay a 15% re-stocking charge and return postage and the ereader was only $29 to begin with so I'd rather not do that. Here are my questions: 1) Is doing the formatting thing with "disks" a plausible thing to try? 2) If so,do I choose quick format or full format (and if you can see any other possible choices I might run into which should I choose)? 3) Is there a good chance that by doing this formatting thing I'll so damage the eReader that I won't be able to return it? Thanks a lot. (I like the reader. It's sharp. LOL But I'd like it more if it worked.) |
almost every linux distro has "parted" ( or Gparted ) in the repos
why not gust plug the device into any linux computer and reformat that device using the fat32 partition format mind you reformatting it will remove ALL!!!! data, books, settings , operating system , EVERYTHING from that device |

I'm putting this thread as solved because I've returned the eReader.
