Is there any ways to change the LDAP userPassword attribute into some other?

Hi,

In the RedHat directory server the userPassword LDAP Attribute is used to authenticate the user object in the directory server. I wish to know is there any possible way to change it in to someother user defined or predefined Attribute. If so how can I find the passwordAttribute in the runtime using Java code.

I guess you can change the schema, but why would you want to? These are standardized.

Want to know

I am right now in middle my project work, I just want to assure it all the implemented platforms are using this "userPassword" for their password attribute. If this is not fixed one then i need to get the correct password attribute in the runtime using my java code so that I wish to know how to get which attribute is used for authentication? Either "userPassword" for all or anyother - if so i need to get the password Attribute name in the runtime from my code, Right now I am hard coded it to "userPassword".

Thanks for you reply :)
