Question Is there a way to "su" your gui session?

Is there a way to temporary give your GUI session root access? I hate having to always switch...

If you are using KDE it is possible to go to the menu and select run command.

If you expand the options it is possible to select to run a program as a different user including root and supply the password, then you just have to type in the name of the specific program you want to run.

More information on what exactly you are trying to do, and which desktop environment you are using, might also help.
