Is there a way to get mail from Outlook into Evolution?

The title says it all, I have used Outlook, and have a lot of mail etc. there, which I want to have access to. I also want to use Evolution, hence the question, is there a way of getting it over?

no. Outlook stores all your mail/settings in one big proprietary file. Its not possible.

What you could do is forward all your mail to your email address, and then receive it using Evolution.

Outlook can be exported

I'm working on doing the same thing. The following article may be of some assistance...

If all else fails:
1 set up imap server on second machine.
2 Configure that imap account in outlook as a second acount
3 Start large copy operation from outlook mail to imap folders etc.
4 Boot in linux, start evolution
5 Configure imap server as second account
etc etc

Thinking it over, this sounds like a tremendous hassle. Personally I prefer to stick with keeping my mail on the imap server. That way I can switch to any client I want.

cheerio,

René

Outport Solution

after a little more research of the above article, it seems that the program Outport will work well, for my needs anyway. It grabs Contacts, Email, and Tasks from Outlook and outputs them to an Evolution importable file. Just need to do a reboot to the windows partition to run it. (Might try running it under wine if you're opposed to a reboot). I think this would be a lot simpler than the mass email forwarding, plus you can grab contacts and tasks.

Thank you, those two programs, Mozilla and Outport look promicing...

forwarding is not really an option, as I wish to do it for something like 1000 e-mails....
