is there a way to control how fast scp uploads?

or sends its data? i do not always want to use 100% of my bandwidth when uploading 400+ meg of data via scp. is there a way to throttle that back to say 60% or so via the command line?

FYI i am using OSx 10.4.11 not pure linux, but scp is scp i hope.

Have a look at the man page for scp to see if it supports the same options, but my version of scp has the -l (capital L) switch to specify a limit in Kbit/s
