Is SuSE incompatible with Radeon 8500 LE?

I've been having a bit of trouble trying suse.

I first downloaded the boot.iso and made the disc for the ftp install

The cd boots fine but when i choose to install from the first menu, it will say loading kernel and it will get up to 100 % and then it will just go black and sit there. Maybe i am not waiting long enough but i have waited for 10 minutes and it still shows no sign of life.

I have tried all of the options, including the safe option.

To check and see if its my hardware, i got the LiveEval cd and when i boot that and choose to do the eval, it does the same booting kernel and goes black again.

Each time it goes black and sits there, the cd stops spinning and the hd shows no sign of activity (no lights on front of computer and no sound coming from it)

could it be that it is incompatible with the Radeon 8500 LE?

RH9, yarrow, MDK 9.2, MDK Move all worked fine with it but i have been trying a load of distros to find the one that fits me best for the moment.

running the gui hardware browser in fc1 gnome gives me radeon R200 QL [Radeon 8500 LE]

any ideas or is suse just a no go for me?

Maybe i am going to be forced to stick with fc1 until mdk 10 comes stable.

Thanks

Nathan

It's probably not the graphic adapters' fault, since it's used in VESA mode during installation which will most likely work with all newer ATI cards.
What is your hardware configuration (board, chipset, harddrives and so on?)

Mobo: Abit KX7-333
Proc: Athlon 1900+
HDD: Maxtor 80 GB 7200RPM

I would think that these would be all that really mattered to at least get started on the install. I'm still stumped. It seems weird to me that bot the Live and the FTP get the same problem, so it's gotta be some hardware conflict, doesn't it?
